Blue Shirts for Women: The Edit
Blue is the easiest colour to wear and the hardest to make interesting. These six, all new this month, do it with lace, print and embroidery rather than a plain shirt in a new shade.
Gingham, softened with lace
Classic blue gingham in cotton, with a deep band of white lace at the hem and lace at the cuffs. The back view shows how far the lace runs.
The powder blue version takes the same idea quieter: pintucks down the front and a narrow lace inset at the cuffs and hem, in a crepe that keeps its shape.
Prints in satin
Three shirts in Bamberg modal satin, which drapes and catches the light. Powder blue with red garden blooms is the softest of them.
The floral mosaic keeps a big print calm by staying in shades of blue, so it works for the office as well as a holiday.
Chain and leopard on deep blue is the evening one, and the close-up shows the contrast cuffs.
The statement piece
A viscose crepe shirt with an Ikat-style palm printed across the chest and floral borders at the hem, cuffs and placket.
And the classic
Cobalt satin with a long pointed collar: the plainest of the seven and the one that ranks first when people search for a blue shirt. More on the collar in our long-collar satin shirts edit.

All seven are made to order in XS to 8XL. Wear them loose over white trousers, or tucked into wide pants with flat sandals.
