Jaipur Literature Festival 2027: Dates, Tickets, Venue and How to Register

The Jaipur Literature Festival returns to Hotel Clarks Amer from 14 to 18 January 2027, and this one is the 20th edition. It is the largest event of its kind in the region and one of the easiest to actually attend — but the registration structure has more tiers than most people expect, several of them are separate events with separate prices, and three of the seven are not yet open. This page sets out what each one gets you.

Registration: seven tiers, four of them open

There is no single JLF ticket. What you are choosing between is a set of registration categories, some of which cover the main festival and some of which are separate ticketed events running alongside it.

What General Registration actually includes

This is the one most visitors want. The organisers list it as covering session venues, food courts, the merchandise space, book sales and art installation spaces — which is to say, the festival. It starts at ₹200.

Jaipur BookMark is a different event

Worth being clear about, because the two get conflated. Jaipur BookMark is the publishing conclave that runs alongside the festival — described by the organisers as South Asia's biggest annual publishing conclave — and it carries its own registration from ₹1,800. If you are a writer, agent, editor or publisher, that is the one that matters. If you are coming to hear writers speak, it is not.

Jaipur Music Stage

The festival's music programme is also separately ticketed, from ₹499, covering folk, fusion and world music performances. At the time of checking, registration for it had not opened.

The venue

The festival is at Hotel Clarks Amer, on Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg in Durgapura, south Jaipur — the hotel's full address is Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, opposite Fortis Escorts Hospital, Lal Bahadur Nagar, Chandrakala Colony, Durgapura, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302018.

The practical consequence of that location: it is on the airport side of the city rather than in the old walled city. The hotel describes itself as near Jaipur Airport, roughly a 20-minute drive from Hawa Mahal and about 24 minutes from Jantar Mantar. If your plan is festival by day and the old city in the evening, budget for that gap in both directions — January in Jaipur has heavy evening traffic on that road.

What to expect across five days

JLF runs multiple stages in parallel across the hotel's grounds, which means the day is a series of choices rather than a single programme. The 2027 speaker list and session programme were not published at the time of checking — the organisers run the announcement much closer to the festival, usually in waves.

The festival describes its 20th edition around the idea of literature as connective tissue in a fragmented moment, and reaffirms its long-standing framing as a democratic platform for public discourse. In practice what that has meant is a mix of fiction, politics, history, translation and regional-language writing, on stages you move between freely.

What to wear

Mid-January in Jaipur is genuinely cold in the mornings and evenings and warm in the middle of the day, and the festival lives outdoors in hotel gardens. Layers you can shed by noon and put back on by five, and shoes for grass and gravel rather than for a lobby. Evenings at JLF are dressier than the days, particularly around the music programme.

That site is a JavaScript application — it returns nothing useful to an ordinary fetch, which is why so much secondary coverage of JLF dates is vague or out of date. The 2027 programme and speaker list were not published. Three registration tiers were marked "coming soon" and are listed here as such rather than as available.
