Lakmé Fashion Week October 2026: Dates, How to Take Part, and What to Expect

Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI returns to New Delhi from 15 to 18 October 2026. It is India's largest ready-to-wear fashion week, and — like most fashion weeks anywhere — it is not an event you buy a ticket to. This page sets out what it is, what is genuinely open to you, and how to follow it if you are not in the room.

What the event actually is

Lakmé Fashion Week began in 2000 and now runs twice a year, in spring and again in autumn. Since 2020 it has been staged in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India, the industry body that also runs India Couture Week, and appears under the name Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI.

It is a trade event before it is a spectacle. The audience in the room is buyers, press, stylists and industry — the shows exist so that retailers can place orders and journalists can write about the season. That is the single most useful thing to understand about it, and it explains most of what follows.

The October edition is the autumn–winter and festive showing. Historically it has alternated between Mumbai and Delhi; this edition is in New Delhi.

Can you attend?

Realistically, no — not as a member of the public buying a ticket. There is no public ticket sale for this edition, and none has been announced. Access is by invitation and accreditation: buyers, press, and guests of the designers and sponsors.

This is not unusual and it is not a slight. It is how fashion weeks work more or less everywhere, because the room is a sales floor.

What is genuinely open

Participation is not one door. The organisers run several programmes for different audiences, and at the time of checking most of them were dormant while one was live.

This is the one route still accepting entries for the October edition. It is aimed at emerging fashion and beauty creators, and the process runs through Instagram: repost the programme announcement, tag the official Lakmé Fashion Week, Lakmé India and FDCI accounts, use the programme hashtag, and complete the registration form on the organiser's site. Entries close on 30 September 2026.

One practical detail that is easy to miss and expensive to discover late: selected creators are expected to be in New Delhi for 15–18 October. Travel is on you. Factor that in before applying.

How to follow it if you are not there

• The official accounts — the organisers post schedules, looks and backstage material across the run, and this is where the show-by-show coverage appears first.
• The designers themselves — most labels publish their own collection imagery immediately after showing, often in more detail than the coverage.
• Fashion press — Indian editions of the major titles cover it daily during the run.

No official livestream has been announced for this edition. If one is, it will be announced on the organisers' channels rather than anywhere else.

What to expect from the week

Expect a mix: established names showing full collections, a GenNext slate of debut designers that the organisers have run for years, sustainability and craft-focused showcases, and a grand finale. Autumn–winter editions lean festive and occasion-heavy, because the calendar sits just before the Indian wedding season.

If you are watching for what will actually reach shops, watch the buyers' reaction rather than the front row.

Before you rely on any of this

Fashion week details move, and this one is unusually badly signposted. The organiser's own homepage still advertises an "upcoming edition" from October 2022; the real dates for this edition sit on a programme page linked from the same navigation. Every fact on this page was read directly from the organiser's site on 11 September 2026, and anything that could not be confirmed — the venue, a livestream, public access — is described as unconfirmed rather than guessed.
